Phrasal Verbs、日本語で言うと「句動詞」。なんだそれ?と思う人のほうが多いと思いますが、簡単に言うと、単語+前置詞 または 単語+副詞 のような組み合わせのもの。例えば get up,look up,take off みたいなものを指します。
このPhrasal Verbsは日常会話において、かなり頻繁に使われるので知っておいて損はありません。ちなみに数はめちゃくちゃ多いです。よく使われるものだけでも、軽く1000は超えると思います。
少しづつ覚えていきましょー。

- 下に行く、下りる
- 〔温度などが〕下がる
- 〔風などが〕収まる
- 〔価値や品質などが〕下落する、悪化する
- 〔水中に〕沈む、沈没する
- 〔天体が地平線などに〕沈む、没する
- 〔空中から地面に〕墜落する、衝突する
- 〔床に〕倒れる、転ぶ
- 〔競技・争いなどにおいて〕負ける、敗退する、打ち破られる
- 〔後々まで〕記憶される、思い出に残る◆「~として」にあたるas ~が続く。
- 〔考えなどが〕受け入れられる、認められる
- 〈俗〉〔出来事が〕起きる、起こる
- 〈話〉〔食べ物などが〕食べられる、喉を通る
- 〔コンピューターなどが〕ダウンする、故障する
- 〈英〉〔学期末に〕大学を辞める
- 〈卑〉オーラル・セックスをする

If a computer system goes down, it stops working:
The battery should prevent the computer system from going down in the event of a power cut.
US slang
If an event such as a crime or a deal goes down, it happens:
I tried to tell Tyrell what was going down, but he wouldn't listen.
UK old-fashioned
If you go down from a college or university, especially Oxford University or Cambridge University, you leave either permanently or on holiday.
